This post is the mother of all RAMBLINGS
If this can happen to a Senior Counsel, my heart goes out to the fraternity. So here goes:
I got many calls from a random number and I finally decided to answer it wondering it should be someone I know from an unknown number.
Caller: “I was referred by someone that I could seek your help and about how good you are in the profession.”
It seems to be a person of repute..
Me: (“with an inflated happy ego and getting ready mentally that it is an engagement). Thank you but what is this regarding ? As I can’t meet or talk to clients and you have to come through a counsel on record. “)
Caller: “l have a lawyer. He has also appeared and represented my interests in court. The orders are reserved.”
Me: “So I don’t understand what this call is about”.
Caller: “ I have some doubts academically”.
(Sure, I don’t hold back in sharing what I know especially when I felt that there is some anxiety).
Caller: “the Judge reserved the matter for orders and it’s been 10 days. What can we do to make the judge pronounce the order.”
!!!!!!ARGH…..
(I am fuming at this point. I am in the middle of a meeting. I get called several times , I am questioned about a matter where am not involved and the orders are reserved. I still felt I am duty bound to help a stranger academically and this is the brlliant question).
Me: Politely informed since the caller may not know about the system , “the judges have a lot of work and so it will come out in due course and there is nothing you can do about it and you shouldn’t either. It’s out of your hands and control.“
Caller: “ I asked a few people already and I have had cases previously but they said you are the best. “
Me: “Brilliant.my brethren who referred me for this brilliant question, clearly love me.”
Calls back a few days later and since I dint block or save the number I picked it up again unknowing of the person behind the call.
Caller: “ i have one more question. so will the judge list the case and then pronounce orders or will he just directly upload it?”
Seriously!!!
